The Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Professorial Chair in Environment and Climatic change in collaboration with the Center for Climatic Change Studies (CCCS) of the University of Der el Salaam organized an annual Festival on Environment and climatic change. The festival was held on 31st Oct – 4th Nov 2016, at Nkurumah Hall, University of Der el salaam, Tanzania
The Objective of the annual festival was to bring together Experts and Key Stakeholders from local, National and International Communities to share their expertise and disseminate research findings on Environment, Climate Science and Communities’ livelihoods in the context of climate change. The festival brought in high level decision makers, development partners and diplomatic missions, policy developers and practitioners from government, researches, private sectors, civil society organisations, regional economic and political integration bodies (e.g. SADC, COMESA,EAC) AND community Based Organizations from International Organisations, and four East African countries (Uganda, Kenya, Sudan and Tanzania) and the media both local and international. Our goal is to contribute to reduced greenhouse gas emissions and improved ecosystem health for sustainable livelihoods in Eastern Africa
